The writer Lewis was inspired by the beautiful landscapes and medieval structures of Narni and create a compelling story: "THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA".
The book inspired the film produced by Disney and directed by Andrew Adomson where man can recognize the natural landscapes that characterize the city as well as see the similarity between the home of the Wicked Witch of Narnia and many castles that rise on the hills of Narni.
For those who love art and history, NARNI UNDERGROUND offers a variety of important areas to be visited as part of a guided tour. During this visit man can admire the local basement of the convent of San Domenico with an adjoining underground church frescoes in the thirteenth and fifteenth centuries, a Roman cistern and a cell full of graffiti made by prisoners of the Inquisition. The same tour includes a guided visit to 'former cathedral of San Domenico, where man can admire a magnificent Byzantine mosaics of the sixth century. In the case of events in the church above, alternatively you can visit the cellars of St. MARIA Impensole, the eighth century, with three naves, built on the ruins of a Roman building. Transformed into a crypt in the twelfth century, still keeps two tanks of the III / II sec. A.C.
By reservation only, man can also visit the inside of the Roman Formina (I cent. AD).
From the February 19, 2011 man can visit the church of San Domenico from the circuit of Narni Underground. Inside emerged important archaeological remains, including a magnificent Byzantine mosaic.
