Marcia Francescana, Assisi from July 25 to Aug. 4th, 2012

Assisi (PG) - The second edition of the Marcia Francescana towards Assisi will take place from July 25th to August 4th, offering youngsters aged between 18 and 35 tend days of meditation whilst walking through some of the most magnificent scenery in Umbria. The march retraces the itinerary that St Francis made in 1216 and will culminate in the arrival in Santa Maria degli Angeli for the Festa del Perdono indulgence celebration.

The itinerary traced by the march each year runs along the Biferno basin, from Casacalenda to Guardialfiera, Palata, Guglionesi, Larino, Ururi and Portocannone. Besides walking, it is an appreciation of the atmosphere of spirituality shared by all that is the driving force of the event. Brotherhood and restraint are the leitmotifs of the whole initiative, alongside prayer and the sharing of whatever anyone has brought along with them for the journey.

16th Umbria Film Festival, Montone Pg

The 16th edition of the Umbria Film Festival will be held in Montone from July 11 to 15, 2012.

The festival, under the artistic direction of Vanessa Strizzi and the organization of Marisa Berna, will be preceded by a series of screenings on Giglio Island on July 8 + 9. The films presented will include Apartment in Athens, by Ruggero Dipaola and starring Laura Morante, set in Greece during the Second World War and telling the story of a forced cohabitation. The director will receive the award for the best Italian debut of the year.

This year's guests of honor will be one of the greatest contemporary screenwriters and an acclaimed, Oscar-nominated British actor.
The Italian premieres will include the animated film A Cat in Paris, by Jean-Loup Felicioli and Alain Gagnol, selected as one of the final five nominees for the 2012 Oscar for animation.
This funny film narrates the double life of a cat that spends his days with the daughter of a policewoman and his nights with the good-hearted thief Nico.

As per tradition, the program will comprise a competition for children's animated shorts, a series of short films by Umbrian filmmakers competing in the Umbriametraggi section, and a round table on cinema and immigration.
There will also be two excellent music nights' the opening concert of Spoleto's Opera House "A. Belli", and the closing concert of the Philharmonic Society "Braccio Fortebraccio", that will play music taken from film soundtracks. We look forward to welcoming you all!
